Mapping of knowledge or skills pertaining to a particular subject area or role and detection of people skill upgrade needs are possible thanks to the assessment systems , calibrated on the different considered knowledge area, that ABIFormazione already offers or that is able to realise, upon specific request, on its own Learning Management System or for the customer’s corporate one. Assessment and orientation systems have the function of dynamically assessing potential learners ex ante and orienting them in the training environment and can be used both for self- and hetero-assessment needs. For several years now, ABIFormazione has been using and developing assessment systems based on a neural engine for the configuration of adaptive tests . Thanks to the integration of an artificial neural network (ANN), it is possible to dynamically customise the assessments by means of an ‘intelligent’ selection of questions according to the answers provided by the learners during the test. The use of Artificial Intelligence makes it possible to significantly reduce the duration of assessments and to generate exhaustive and detailed reports , even at an aggregate level, on the coverage of the totality of knowledge and skills under investigation. During the test, the neural network-based assessment asks questions to find out whether or not the candidate possesses the knowledge and skills. Its aim is, with a limited number of questions, to lower the level of uncertainty on all the competence areas it is testing. Having to choose, it focuses on the areas with the greatest degree of Assessment and orientation LEARN uncertainty and obtains information on both the specific competence and related competences (e.g. related to subject areas linked by preparatory relationships). During the test, therefore, the network simulates the behaviour of an assessor: based on the answers given by the candidate and his overall behaviour during the test, it infers his level of competence even on those areas onwhich he did not ask direct questions. An example In order to support intermediaries in fulfilling their obligations to annually survey the training and development needs of financial services personnel (Article 81 of Consob’s Intermediaries Regulation), ABIFormazione proposes, within the ProFinanza service , an assessment dedicated to the knowledge and skills indicated by ESMA in its Guidelines 2015/1886 . An artificial neural network handles batteries of different assessments and selects a limited sequence of items (30, 45, or 50, depending on the type of assessment) for each learner from a pool of over 2,750 questions. The reports generated by the assessments map the knowledge and skills of the individual and of the entire company population involved, making it possible to detect personnel development needs and to plan training plans consistent with the identified needs, in accordance with the regulations. 5
